Each rose stands for one year of her life. Roses also refer to Amy as an English rose.
Musical scores of some of her hit songs swirl around her, such as “Rehab” & “Back to Black”. 
Amy’s hit album was “Back to Black”, so black, literally, is at her back. 
The drawing style is raspy, to complement Amy’s edgy style.
